Does anyone know if the Model 41 5" barrel every had an extendable front sight? Mine has two allen screws that can be loosened to allow the front sight to slide forward a couple of inches. Is that a gunsmith added item or a factory option?
thanks Pete

I believe its a factory option. My 5.5 in 41 dates 66/67 and it does not have that option. Go to the S&W forum and ask..

If not mistaken, that allows for the short barrel to have the same sight radius as the 7" barreled model. Allowing for sillouette.

When I was shooting bullseye pistol for a lot of military teams I always shot a S&W Model 41 heavy barrel with an extended rib for the .22 aggregate. My own model 41 has a barrel on it right now like that, plus I have the long barrel also. Mine is an older gun, which I think is better than the newer ones.
