is it safe to shoot a black powder revolver in very excellent condition and do i have to load black powder .38 ammo in or could i use regular ammo? It is a iver johnson revolver 2nd model i might sell it but don;t know the value of this revolver.

my personal opinion is do not fire any black powder cartridge revolver period. there is no way of knowing how much smokeless powder ammo has already been fired in them in the last 100 years.
