Hello, I inherited a Colt match Target pistol with a 6" or longer barrel with serial number 14965-S so I think it was made in 1955. It has a button clip release on the frame. My dad put about 1000 rounds thru it and it is perfect except very minor bluing wear on the tip from holstering.
It only has 1 clip and i would like to get a few more. Any idea what it's worth and where to get good clips? Thanks

From your serial # you have a Match Target Woodsman model cal 22 LR made in 1948.
cdnninvestments.com in Texas has mags for $20 ea. Price depends on actual condition, geographic market, and whether you are selling to a collector, a user , or a dealer, and how fast you want to sell it. A 98% pistol will likely fetch about $1000 tops. If you find a dealer with good traffic who does consignments tou will likely get 80% of sale price. |

According to the published Colt authority R. L. Wilson, 1948 started with #301-S and 1949 with 35751-S. Thus 14965-S is 1948.
It might have been purchased new in 1955, having set in a wholesaler's warehouse and/or retailers inventory for longer than normal. |
