Default What are your Thanksgiving plans?

My wife and I for years let her daughters go to their Dad's house on Thanksgiving leaving us free to do as we wished, we would have our Thanksgiving the weekend before. Now that they are adults that tradition continues. We are paddling the Myakka River down Tampa way for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I will fly to Virginia to visit my brother and his family. It will be my first Thanksgiving away from home, but I am pretty happy about visiting my dear brother!

When our kids married, we made a pact with them.
They go to their in-laws on all holidays exclusively; no split days with some time here and some time there.
But Christmas is here. Exclusively.
For several years, our daughter insisted we go there for Thanksgiving, but we are refusing this year as she needs the REST!
So Judy and I are footloose and fancy free on Thanksgiving, and will pick a nice restaurant to go out to on that day.

We will stay up here on our hill top. Have a capon in the freezer. There will be dressing, celery stuffed with cream cheese, condensed milk, mayo and garlic and a rowdy potato salad, sweet potatoes and maybe ambrosia. Any thing else to be determined. I don't know why I cant remember to set out the cranberry sauce the last 3 years.

Tim I have done several myakka river trips. Had some good friends that were park rangers at myakka state park and also used to camp at a friends property in myakka city. I normally do dinner with the family and then a couple days at Sertoma youth ranch down around dade city, fl for the annual bluegrass festival. The ranch cooks up 30-40 turkeys and everyone brings side dishes and then its music and campfire pickin for a couple days.

We go to Disney World every Thanksgiving. This year should be the same. Dinner at the 50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM (now called Hollwood Studios)

Head to the range, afterwards, I shall prepare a spam for roasting in the oven, and enjoy it with eggs and biscuits while watching a game on the tube. While the spam is aroastin', I'll remove everything from the safe, wipe 'em down, and verify the inventory. Then, while enjoying glass of single malt, I'll think of all I have to be thankful for.

Over the years I have settled in as the Thanksgiving cook. Both sides of the family come over. It's a pretty big get-together. So I will do my 0530-1400 shift on Wednesday, come home and start cooking the easy prep stuff. Then I will get up at my usual time (0400) and start the big stuff. Dinner at 1PM. Everyone is welcome. If any of ya'll are in the area, come on over. Even you extreme right-wingers I love to annoy .

Well, as wet as it is here (at times) you'd think you were living in the Pacific.

Haha, I work in automotive product manufacturing. While the production force is off to enjoy the holiday I'll be directing a group of contractors for 12 hours to install and/or modify equipment. I gave up all 'normal people' holidays when I took my current job. I hate my job...
