Post Beretta SxS dated 1939

I would appreciate any information that I could get about a Beretta side-by-side shot gun. I am not sure what model it is.

As noted, it is dated 1939 and Made in Italy and stamped with the full Beretta name, has proof marks, double triggers, engraved silver-color boxlock receiver with a "silver bird" maybe a pigeon below the top lever. The barrels are 26 inches with fixed chokes, the stock is walnut - straight English cut. There is a metal shield on the bottom of the stock near the but and below where a sling stud once existed but is filled in. The underside of the barrel has the two screws for the sling swivel as well.

I am thinking it may be a European gun converted for the US, because of the sling.

I neglected to note that this is a 12 gauge!
