well so far it`s a 2 way between :
--------------------------------------- Springfield and Browning ON TOP with 5 each Glock is up next with 3 votes, Sig following with 2 and then CZ H&K RUGER Beretta walther If I had to choose one RIGHT NOW it would have to be Browning But I think i`ll let this go for maybe a few more days since I like them both it`s gonna be hard to choose between them.... ![]() ![]() So my cut off date for this thread will be FRIDAY the 30th which ever 1 has the most votes im purchaseing Saturday morning rain or shine and im heading to the range for some fun.

FNP 9 - have one- love it - The only one that comes close to accuracy is the High power- But then again FN makes them both.

+1 on the SA XDM 9mm as a working incredibly accurate and highly ergonomic target gun, then take the savings from your $1,000 budget and put a layaway deposit on a standard fixed sight Browning HP in 9mm. No matter what your handgun orientation, just about everyone should at some point in time own at least one classic BHP 9mm in their handgun stable, along with a 1911 in .45 ACP.

I would have to go with the Springfield XD with a hard look at the XDM. It carries more ammo and has a few ergonomic upgrades. I have an XD40 and love it.

a 1911 in 9mm would be nice i think. but you cant beat the glock for the abuse it will take and still function.

In order of preference.
SIG-226 with a LaserMax installed. (a hoot to shoot) HK USP XD Glock doesn't have the right cant on the grip - doesn't have a natural point of aim. (for me)

Protosniper, I took the Ruger SR9 out today for her christening and was happy with it. While I was at the range I also rented an XD-9 to see what it was like. I will admit by the time I got done if I had known then what I know now I would have bought the XD-9.
I liked the feel of the grip over the SR9, however I liked the trigger of the SR9 over the XD-9. Now this is my first time of firing either one and I had better accuracy with the SR9, I was shooting to the left with the XD and not as tight of groups but I believe with some more time on it and getting familier with it would cure that for me. OH and the wife is going to find a new XD-9 under the Xmas tree this year, I have been wanting to get her a higher capacity pistol and I believe this one is the one that will make her happy. It was down to the Glock 19, XD-9, S&W MP9, FNP9 but the feel of the XD-9's grip broke the tie. This was both the SR9 and XD-9 at 21' running mosambique drills. Ya I know I need to tighten the group up but they are both pistols Im not familiar with and its been about 3 years since I did any serious defensive shooting. ![]() Last edited by Lost One; 11-01-2009 at 01:18 AM.. |

Kestrel,
Those Vectors were recalled some time ago for a safety issue. I guess yours did not make it back! They have a certain appeal and I sure would like to shoot one. |

BHP....for sure
Sig P-239 the DA/SA in 40. than get a 9mm conversion barrel compensated or threaded for a suppressor. same magazines and barrel spring works both calibers. 357SIG conv bbl will just add to the fun. Beretta 92FS--big, heavy & accurate. H&K P7--accuracy plus plus blackhawk 38/357 & 9mm. scoped and really fun. but not a stand alone 9mm.

Hmmm. I have 2 on the list, the G17 and the Colt Combat Commander (series 70). Not real sure which is more accurate, but the Glock is more durable and requires less maintenance. I'd have to leave the Colt at home in its box, I guess.

I know it says 9mm guys only... I'm a .45 guy, but have shot 9mm alot. I'd say the Glock 17 is a great pistol. I shoot that about the best for a 9mm. The Springfield XD9 is a good pistol too.

If I'm buying one to protect the the life of my loved ones, then Glock 19. Easy choice.
