Removing Parkerizing

Once the parkerizing is removed the underlying steel can be stoned and polished to a given finish or it can be beadblasted and blued. If you believe it is reprehensible to possess the will and means to repel a criminal assault...how can you rightfully ask another to risk his life to protect yours? It's a dull grey or black finish, unlike the shiny bluing. Lots of military firearms have this finish, to reduce glare on the battlefield that would give away a hiding soldier. It tends to be thicker and rougher than bluing, but doesn't always wear like bluing. If applied poorly, it can chip off or flake off. Macht kaputt, was euch kaputt macht! If it has arsenal rebuild marks the serial number would reveal what the original finish was. It could have been parkerized originally, although there were different types of this finish. It is really called Nickel maganese phosphate. It is a chemical process that adds the above chemicals to the metals surface. It makes the metal a gray green blackish color.
