Thumbs up Pickled?

So, does anyone pickle things other than the usual cucumbers? I was looking for recipes for pickled eggs and beets today, found a whole bunch of great and unusual things. Somebody pickled ring bologna, which they recommend 90 days in the jar before eating...That's a bit strange. Some relatives that own a restaurant are having a pickle contest, which got me thinking about things that can be pickled.

My favorites, in no particular order:

*Pickled green beans, lots of garlic

*Pickled carrots

*Pickled eggs, with or without beets

*Pickled beets

*Mustard pickles

*Dill pickles!

I didn't pickle them myself, but pickled quail eggs are awesome! Far richer than chicken eggs.

Oysters from the sea are easy. Get a little sauce on em', pop them in your mouth, they'll crawl down by themselves.

One of God's creatures, John.

But, you did say you'd try it, "if someone else made them". Do you eat scallups, clams, mussells?

Sorry John. I have always lived near the Ocean. Dad always fished. He was a professional fisherman in his later years. Seafood has always been greatly loved in my family.

Do you eat any fish? Bass, catfish, bream, trout?

Once upon a time, in a land far far away (Kansas).

Me & a buddy went into a local saloon.

Big Bubba the bartender had on bibs but no t-shirt.

After we got our beer, I asked Bubba what was in that big jar down the bar.

Why thems "Hot Pickled Turkey Gizzards" he says.

"Ooooooh" Says I, "gimme one...."

Thought by buddy was going to hurl right there on the bar...
