Default 22 mag rounds

I have some old browning 22 mag rounds 'nail drivers' I inherited from my
Uncle. One box has corrosion on the tip of the hollow pointed bullet. Can
I clean these up with oil/solvent and use them, or should I just destroy
them and not shoot them out of my Marlin 782 rifle. They may be 20 -40 years old and I have the original boxes with info on them. Any solid advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

M-22

if memory serves me right a marlin 782 is a bolt action ? i'd try to shoot them after cleaning them up a bit but i would think cleaning them isn't really needed as long as you do not have massive amounts of built up mold. also consider this. ammo that old might be worth a couple bucks, there are people who collect 40 yr old ammo... try to shoot them if you like but don't be surprized to find a lot of duds.

I don't think that I would use oil or solvent on them unless it is VERY sparingly - don't soak them!
