Default Glock 28 Illegal?

Why is the Glock 28 illegal in the US? I don't really want a .380 but WTH is the answer to this question?

Although they are not marketed in North America, except to law enforcement agencies, because they lack sufficient BATF import points, GLOCK makes two pistols for .380 Auto, the GLOCK 25 and GLOCK 28. These pistols were developed for those countries that forbid the civilian possession of a handgun chambered in a common military caliber.

A pistol must reach 75 points in order to be eligible for importation.

Length: for each 1/4" over 6" =1

Forged steel frame =15

Forged HTS alloy frame =20

Unloaded weight w/mag (per oz.)=1

.22 short and .25 auto = 0

.22 LR and 7.65mm to .380 auto=3

9mm parabellum and over=10

Locked breech mechanism=5

Loaded chamber indicator=5

Grip safety=3

Magazine safety=5

Firing pin block or lock=10

External hammer=2

Double action=10

Drift adjustable target sight=5

Click adjustable target sight=10

Target grips=5

Target trigger=2

Clue on those points: One of the people who helped develop the system after passage of GCA '68 worked for the Walther importer. Walther, of course, had a loaded chamber indicator, double action, an outside hammer, etc., so those got high points.

Even though the system forced the development of the PPK/s, it ended up banning a lot of other good pistols.

No longer an issue with Diamondback making that .380 like they do
and to think if it weren't for the GCA '68 we wouldn't have
Jennings et al
Not sure about Hi Point
Cobra Arms et al
and all those ones that people love to hate

Hopefully this won't be an issue much longer with Glock producing frames in Smyrna, GA now and only importing slides.

Also, if the frame is manufactured on a Thursday, it is worth triple the points. During the "lightning round" (January through Belgium), all points are multiplied by the magazine circumference.

As long as you know that, all firearms laws should make sense.

As previously mentioned, it does not meet enough BATF points to be legal for importation into the United States. Like the Walther PPK.
