I picked up this SA 1911 last week and wanted you guys to have a look, picked it up for $450 with a new set of reloading dies,200 fmj bullets and a gallon size bag of brass.
Since I am a Newb to the 1911's can anyone advise on a trigger; this factory one is going to give me arthritis. Also any other suggestions on new sights, and other hop ups you prefer, thanks!

Nice pistol. I'm a fan of the 1911-A1 so I don't really have any suggestions on trigger or sights. Mine has the trigger like yours, the big hammer and the GI sights. I do like your grips. I was looking at a Taurus PT92 that had grips like that and they are very comfortable.

Run it by your local pistol smith. Mine is ramped, ported, accurized (hand fitted barrel), and has modified Bomar Target sights, and a really sweet triger job.

Extended triggers are a stock item that you could probably install yourself. If the pull is too hard, take it to a 'smith who understands 1911s.

I'd say if you got all that for $450 that you did very well!

that looks like a heck of a deal for 450. i paid 600 for my springfield new and have no complaints, i would be even happier if i paied 450
nice grab.the only thing i can think of to work the trigger is take the gun apart and make sure thee are no huge tool marks or burrs. the springfiled should be pretty decent right out of the box

8 pounds is certainly much more than most like. i would think it would be around 5 1/2 coming from SA. get a smith to look at it. if there is something wrong that is not after market then SA should take care of it quickly under their warranty.
good grab btw

You can try adjusting the sear spring a little, which should lighten the pull a bit. It won't make the pull any smoother, but should shave a couple of pounds off without having to take the gun to the smith.

I have my gunsmith do a trigger job on all my 1911s. It is not very expensive and worth every penny in my opinion.
