bullseye competition - The Firearms Forum

Hey guys I need to ask a question and figured this is the place to get a quick, but accurate answer.

I have been out of competition shooting for many years, and I have forgotten the distances fired in 3 gun bullseye matches.
Do they fire 50' and 25 yard distances in any of the disciplines, HELP.

a B-2 at 50 feet for slow fire becomes a B-16 at 25 yards (with a proportionally larger black bulles eye area)

So 25 yards is max distance if I understand.

I thought so but could not remember for certain. I would like to get a competition started around here locally and needed to know the distances for the indoor ranges to participate.

Beth--the 25 is yards.....75 feet.

B-2 and B-16 are specific target designs.
by making the black area larger in proportion to distance the placement of a bullet
at 50 feet will be the same score at the 75 foot target.
a sneaky way to allow more people to enjoy the sport even if their range is only 50 feet.

I just got confused... always shot BE at 25 and 50 YARDS... are you folks talking about reduced yards and reduced targets?????????

indoor ranges that I have shot at were all 50foot ranges, outdoors you shoot slow fire at 50yards and timed and ragged at 25yards from what I've shot around here Stan

Thanks to all.
I am trying to get some competition shooting started here in the Valley of the sun and had hoped to include my indoor range and two others here in the city. Possibly a rivalry between the clubs.
I will contact the NRA to see if it is possible to shoot and score (officially) with distances less than fifty yards, (actual).
If as you have pointed out, we can use a different target at distances less than the 50 yards actual as called for then we may be able to pull this off. I have watched people punching holes in paper for the last twenty one years of operating the range and decided that maybe I could give them (who are interested) some spice by creating competition hole punching.
I used to shoot the three gun matches and I had built all my guns for it and then had to sell them off. So now I must do it all again if I can get some interest in this type of shooting here.

The NRA will have the answers as well but your interests and experience is appreciated. Thank you one and all.

I'll keep you posted if anyone is interested.

75 feet-wow, bullseye is a .22 right? So whats the best .22 for accuracy?

i don't get a lot of bullseys on the 5o' range maybe its not the gun maybe i am not shooting it right. Maybe i should start reading some books on how to shoot with accuracy? Be nice i am a fellow new yorker

That's the 1911 tournament that I shoot in every month though it's an outdoor range: 50 yards very slow fire (10 rounds in 10 minutes) and 25 yards fast fire.

I don't know what would be the best, but a Ruger Mark2 is very accurate at that range and beyond.

Dime at 50 yards then the shot after; a quarter at 100 yards then the shot after that.

I have the camera at the target and use a mirror to show where I am.

Hey, no prob here. You probably shoot more than I do. I'm only able to get out to the range every so often, and I don't shoot .22. I'd love to get one and start, maybe a ruger or browning. 50' with open sights? That's a challenge. I hated shooting at the last range I was a member, because your target had to remain at the 50' mark no matter what you were shooting (indoor). Nothing closer. I left, and joined another range, where I can shoot at 7 yards, or less, but also up to 50' if I want.
