Do you prefer beef over pork for sammies? I prefer/LOVE pork shoulder for this kind of meal.
Wish I could be of some help here... I normally just buy BBQ sauce at my local BBQ place (Bodacious) by the gallon, then spice it up when I prepare a meal. BTW, how did it turn out? Crpdeth

Usually whip up my own and spice up a small portion for myself as the wife and daughter do no eat hot stuff BUT my daughter likes K C Masterpiece BBQ sauce and I do like it. And as Crpdeth said I will also spice up the store bought sauce a bit.

I've tried a few, but keep coming back to Kraft Hickory.

I use KC Masterpiece, original, for all my BBQ. If I want sweet I add brown sugar and molasses to taste. If I want spicy I add tabasco sauce, cayenne pepper, and pepper to taste.
Makes for great BBQ in a crock pot with your venison. |

I like Kc Masteriece and Bullseye. Kraft aint bad too but I prefer the others. When I was a kid I used to compete in the 4-H broiler BBQ contest. I entered 4 or 5 times and won 3 or 4. They gave us 2 chicken halves to cook. We had to submit one for judging and the other was out lunch. Well I always did the same thing with good results and the BBQ sauce was just plain old Kraft.

For pork...I think the best is Williamson Bros. BBQ.....it is the best BBQ in Atlanta. You can buy their sauce in grocery stores around here....or directly from them. Here is the link:

If not homemade, Jack Danials original or smokehouse is very good. I like to do country pork ribs in a ducth oven with a bottle of jack danials bbq sauce, 1 onion, 2 or 3 garlic cloves, red and yellow bell peppers, 2 hrs cooking and you are in eating heaven.

+1 on the Sweet baby Rays Although a little thick it is my favorite commercial sauce. Just add a little red pepper flake as soon as you get the bottle and let it sit it gives it a nice zing.
I had some homemade sauce once at a pig roast they called it North Carolina BBQ Sauce. It was a vinegar base with red pepper flakes in it I think some sugar and some other things. Does anyone have a recipe for this type of sauce? I loved it but my wife made a few recipes she got off the internet and it wasn't the same. I sure would like to have a recipe for that to marinate the meat in before cooking then add some regular bbq sauce after the meat is done.

Sweet Baby Rays and when I can get it, a meat locker in Jacksonville, IL. called Jones Locker, makes and bottles their own. It has won many awards and it's the best I've had, but on the sweet side. Not to everyones taste.

Only if I have to. I have to open up my Justin Wilson cook book and whip uo a batch of Cajun BBQ sauce. Barry's BBQ sauce if I can get it, Open Pit if I have to.

I like Sweet Baby Rays. I think KC Masterpiece is OK, it won the America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Magazine taste test.

Also like Alpo I like the Kraft Hickery too, and it is more available here as well. Regards, Kirk |
