ok from the top a 1816 Remington replica that had some wood split up front the lock is a Grice made (UK) copy of the remington lock and the timber is Stringybark gum , and i dropped it hence the now shortened forestock the next two are my interpretation of Kentucky rifles but with rifled bores to get far better accuracy and whitmore vents ( very short vents) the locks are my own creation copied of a baker Lock with ideas from brown bess's and craigimores ( irish) the stocks are transitional to what i currently make one patch box is a timber slide the other iron and was turtle shell prior to the iron as had a rifle described by a riflesmith from kentucky of the period none are traditional at all i wished a combination of form and funtionality as i hunt with them the middle one i got a deer here only a few weeks ago ( begining january) 180 paces for a rear of the head shot as the herd ran by and it has taken a number of roo's, goats , bunnies and foxes all three pictured are .50 cal and take ball and slug quite nicely , the traditionalists do get upset with me for making bastards but as stated these are for everyday hunting and use and with cast slugs i can get 3" groups at 150 meters or i dont sell it.. do that with a modern "traditional" flinter i'm a member of these good folks here and make quite a few for the folks http://freetrappers.org.au i also make a 100% tradtional Brown Bess in .75 cal thats sold in the US but due to the economy there tanking, thats gone west a bit so i'm as hopefull as any US folks the economy there will pick up fast cheers jack Last edited by jack404; 02-28-2010 at 03:49 AM.. |

I don't know if it qualifies as a "collection".... I refer to them as "toys" because I really don't have any practical use for them.
I bought them just because they were interesting to me and/or fun to shoot. That little blackpowder mortar is a hoot! Last edited by ofitg; 02-28-2010 at 10:53 PM.. |

jack404:
There is a description on whichever gun website about the original Crocodile Dundee. Correct me if this basic story or my memory is wrong, but the actual guy was murdered by Australian agents as he refused to give up his rifle during a siege by a remote cabin. He inspired lots of tourist travel to Australia and now the government does not even speak about him, from what somebody put in their remarks. Is this basic story accurate? |

if you mean this post by the ex secretary of the US AMA a research doctor Miguel Faria i posted it here as well http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=72997 Rod ( Rodney Ansell ) was a good mate of mine , we trapped and shot croc's on and off for years, he was ex army as well but left as he did not like the disapline outside the special forces community ( SF (SAS) here are a bunch of cowboys , i know i was one of the worst examples) a aboriginal mate of ours looked at the scene afterwards , he can tell you what happened where and when by looking at tracks , he's good enough the cops have used him in evedence more than a few times he says Rod was ambushed, shot (by a rifle) before he got to his rifle, then started shooting back, but only got one or two shots off before being dropped finally and was shot again with a shot gun while on the ground he was not the only one but its one story that did get out if you see the stats for police shooting that year the feds using "honcho's" (assasination squads supplied by PMC's) killed over 80, no inquests for these folks , no formal inquiries but lots of notices in TV and radio that they shot at police first , one, james brooks , a mates brother in law did not have a rifle when shot , he sold them all a few weks before to fund a trip to south africa, the rifle produced was a heap and the numbers showed it was one handed in by another gent a day after james was shot, then it dissappeared and no inquiries after ever got a result, james a avid shooter and gun rights person was also a quaker ( we have a big quaker community here, they dont hurt people , ever... as I stated before when they kill 10's ( closer to 100) and arrest thousands pressure from family can make even the hardest of men think twice about handing over his guns yes its true, and one of the most shamefull parts of our history look into the "facts" of the port arthur killings and you'll see the same names popping up there as in the UK case and both resulted in draconian gun laws while howard was in power it was real common for pro gun folks to be shot in self defence, a few on camera when they where unarmed so the videos dissappeared real quick but they exist.. folks keep posting them about the place and they keep dissappearing.. the UN dont play nice eh neither do thier stooges we are going to be ok i hope but you have a UN stooge in your white house now and thats a major worry as we need a strong armed USA as a example if we are going to get where we want to be .. maybe thats a selfish veiw but true none the less.. without someone leading th way we are screwed cheers jack |

Here is my current project right at the inception point from where the ATF says that it is now a fire arm and no longer a billet.
The second picture has my shop keeper cleaning up after me b/c he says I don't do a good enough job. (he's 4) Freak'n slave driver.

Its pretty bad. Even though I run the vac and have a air stream clearing chips, they are still everywhere. Even finding them in my hair. the cutting oil weighs them down a little but its still a mess.

Here's a couple of my favorite lever rifles. The two in the middle are Marlins, of course, a .375 on the left and .444 on the right, both sporting peep sights. Flanking them are two BLRs, a .358 on the left and .450 on the right. Both of them are topped by low power Leupolds

I'm a big fan of compact rifles. Here's a couple that are nice carrying guns. From the left: Husqvarna 4100 in .270, Rem mod 7400 carbine in .280, Marlin 336ER in .356, and Valmet model 412S 12ga over .308. Three Nikon scopes and a Weaver 1-3 on the combination.

JLA, thats some mighty fine work. I hate when financial issues stop a cool project like that but it makes the end result all that much more special. I would be proud to show that one off.
