I have a Taurus PT908 9mm semi auto (4" bbl) that I bought used. After shooting about 200 rounds thru it I noticed that the front corners of the barrel (block) were getting peened. As it turns out, the recoil spring is broken (it is a steel flat wire type). I have looked all over on the web and have not found anyone that makes a replacement spring.

I looked at the SIG P228 and P226 (this Taurus is a copy) and I may try the Sig spring (17lb), although it has a shorter barrel by .1" and uses a round wire spring. I believe the standard is 16lb. I think this is why the gun was sold in the first place. Taurus also sells a 911B model that is a copy of mine, but I still cannot find replacement springs for it either.

Is there a way to cut down or modify a spring by taking measurements and testing poundage? I really like this gun.

It should be under warranty, hope they are sending those 4 springs for free! lifetime warranty means lifetime warranty although they will probably want you to send in the pistol,in that case just buy 4 springs, you'll never see your baby gain. lol
