If this question has been asked before, then I apologize in advance. If a turn-of-the-century .22 black powder revolver is in good shooting condition, i.e., indexes well and locks up tight, would it be safe to fire CB shorts in it?
Thanks! Old Gun Guy

CB shorts contain no power, the bullet is propelled by the force of the primer only. those and even the CB long (CCI) , which contains 1 Gr of powder should be perfectly safe in any mechanically sound black powder .22 firearm.

personal opinion. i would not fire this or any other black powder revolver with modern ammo. what will happen eventually is it will not be tight and indexes as well as it does now. in other words you can only harm it not help it.

WARNING--I had an old Eli Whitney c. 1875 .22 revolver that was in very good condition. I fired a .22 CB cap into the leg of a picnic table about 10 feet away and the bullet bounced back and hit ME in the shin. OUCH! No broken skin, just stung a bit.
