Cut down a rifle? Includng chamber

“Rifle”, a weapon having a rifled bore with a barrel length equal to or greater than 16 inches and capable of discharging a shot or bullet for each pull of the trigger.

Here's the key, the chamber is not rifled.

Down at the bottom of the article, they explain the legalities - since this "pistol" was built on a Win' 94 receiver WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN ASSEMBLED IN A RIFLE, this pistol is legal.

I always play it safe when cutting down rifles or shotguns. Load a snap cap into the chamber and make a dowell for the current barrel length. then cut that dowell down to exactly 16 inches and take the extra cut off piece and tape it to the muzzle flush. Then cut just behind the end of the leftover piece. That will give you a bore of 16 or 18" depending on whether youre cutting a rifle or shotgun... The trick is to try to cut a tad long and leave yourself room to file a true end on your barrel, then crown it...

Here is one for the older guys. Which TV show was it that the actor carried a rifle like that? The TV show "Firefly" one of the actresses carried one to.

Definitly measure 2x and cut once when playing with guns...
Any doubt with law verify with ATF on Federal regs.

I say "To each their own", but I can't see paying $1000 for a firearm that cannot be aimed accurately. Now if this beast had a full buttstock that could be accurately fired from the shoulder, then that may capture my attention.

You'd be money ahead by buying a used Rossi 92 for around 400, paying the feds 200 tax, and having it cut.

Oh, and Agentwill, Steve McQueen, as Josh Randall, carried a Mare's Laig in Wanted Dead or Alive. Also, Eric Close, as Vin Tanner (based on the character "Vin", who was played by Steve McQueen in the original movie) carried one in the '98 TV series The Magnificent Seven.
