Default Of politics and other things.....

It seems that every time I turn on the radio, I hear something that sounds like a joke. These things are so stupid or so outrageous, you would think that they couldn't possibly be true!

For example, it seems that Congress is going to extend the child credit to poor families that don't even pay taxes. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? Isn't this akin to PAYING poor people to have kids? Do we really want to get into the business of government-sponsored baby factories?

And I hear that Bill Clinton wants a Constitutional Amendment so that he can run for office again. Does this guy ever go away?

I also heard that some Iraqi soldiers are demanding that the US give them back-pay for wages lost during the war. Their reasoning is that our military victories took their jobs away, and so we owe them money. Hmmm. Lemme get this right. They want us to pay them retroactively for fighting against us? Should we also give them bonuses for killing our soldiers? Are these people smoking crack? They're even threatening violence if we don't pay them!

What the hell is this world coming to?

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Ok, I'm going to hit the last note first.

About paying Iraqi soldiers:

For one, Amendment 14 section 4 of the US constitution states:
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any state shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

That alone to me says it's in violation to be paying them in the first place with US tax dollars, but then again, I plead ignorance to the spirit of this law and don't know if it really applicable. But it does say it I think all those gold bars we keep finding should be exchanged for the good old US dollar, then distributed back to the Iraqi's to help get their economy going. The gold is most likely the oil for food money, so it does belong to the Iraqi people. But give them US money for sure cause we can keep the gold and use it to boost the value of the dollar. *shrug* I think it's kind of a smart move actually, cause it's a legal issue they might have a leg to stand on. Plus you know the French wouldn't have thought of it

On the subject of Billy, I really don't think it'll happen. But if it does, I'm votin for Ronney Raygun!

On the tax extension note, I have to ask, how long was the welfare system in place in this country? Since the great depression, 1930ish? So for roughly 70 years we've done **** like that. Ain't nothin new. Why you surprised about it?
