Default Jack the mail man delivered my Khukuri

This afternoon I received my new Khukuri from Himalayan Imports. It is a 15 inch Ang Khola. I find it to be an awesome knife made to do some serious chopping. It came razor sharp too. I need to get it out and chop something with it soon.

The photo is a stock image from Himalayan Imports. I am on a slow dial up connection and it takes for ever to upload a pic. It is as close as to exact representation of mine as you can get.

Now I have my intrest peaked in this style of knife I will most likely end up with more.

Cold Steel makes a modernized one that is pretty nice.

Ever read up on the guys that carry them, the Gurkhas? Total bada**es.

I showed the knife to one of my brothers today and he was pretty impressed with it. I am going to get another one sometime. It will most likely be a longer one but I don't know for sure. So many to choose from and so little money to buy with.

There is a larger version made, they're used to ceremonially slaughter a bull with (supposedly) one blow severing the head. Much more rare!

Interesting timing: my Cold Steel catalog arrived in the mail, along with two DVD's chock full of demonstrations. There is also a nice, long tutorial on spear use, which is interesting in that some of my friends are going on a boar hunt with those spears. I'd go but it's $500 or so.
The Cold Steel kukhri is featured in the DVD, also I think it's on YouTube.
Nice link, Jacksonco, I'll be passing it to other aficionados. I got my Kukhri when I was in my mid-teens, it's going strong still.
