I don't own one, but I spent about two hours with one last spring. Very lightweight and very fun. The price is right, too. They're imported from somewhere, but I can't remember where.
The sights were decent. I wouldn't hesitate if the price were right.

My neighbor has one and his young kids love to shoot it. Very accurate for the price. I wouldn't mind having one myself.

Had a kaBOOM! with one a few years ago using CCI Singer ammo. Please do not use Stingers in it, cracked open the right side of the receiver and spewed powder residue. But before that it was a pleasure to shoot, only got to shoot about 200 rounds through it. I remember liking it, wasn't super accurate but had a comfortable stock, easy to break down and clean, good iron sights. It was a fun gun to shoot. Sorry I couldn't help more, this was a few years ago.

Thanks for all your help,The price is right on the firearm, but blowing out the receiver is really not in my best interest and since I was thinking along the lines of the .17 hmr I am going to pass .
Thanks, mrt |

I know I am way to late to make a difference, but:
I, personally, would not let experiences with CCI Stinger in semi autos spoil my opinion of the semi auto. The Runger 10/22 has an excellent reputation and is beloved by many. However, I sent two of these to an early grave with the CCI Stinger ammo. The first stripped the threads in the receiver where the two bolts for the barrel holding wedge went into. I had had troubles and even tried loc-tite. The second very minutely hairline cracked the receiver where the large bolt stop pin goes through. I have an older, about 20 years old, Marlin kids bolt action single shot that will keep Stinger in that magic, at least magic for me, one inch at 50 yards. I could not say how many, Stinger, Viper, Yellow Jacket, and the old Winchester version it has had through it, but, thousands. I have one older, bought in 1972, Marlin bolt action clip feed, real walnut stock, has the hold down bolt in the receiver, not the barrel like the newer models, glass bedded, that will. SOMETIMES, put Stinger into an inch at 100 yards, double bench rest, if conditions are perefect, if I am perfect, and especially if no one is around for me to brag :>) |

There are quite a few rimfires that CAN NOT HANDLE Stingers...as they are HYPER VELOCITY rounds...
It's like this...you wouldn't put .22LR High-Velo rounds in a Pre-WW2 .22LR rifle, would you?? Nope, you'd use STANDARD LR's...otherwise a KABOOM is likely...maybe not the first time, but brother, it's coming...you just never know when. Same thing for modern .22lr's, they've not quite come up to the level needed for Stingers & other HYPER-velo rounds. There really isn't a need to use Hyper-velo rounds in semi-auto's...none currently on the market can handle 'em. Maybe a few times...but sooner or later...they crack like a Remmy 597 with .17HMR...BOOM!! They were meant for SPECIFIC Bolt-Action rifles...let's keep it safe until someone makes something tougher ![]() Oh, and I feel that Mossberg was being mighty cheezy in ripping off the design for the Marlin 795 to use for the Plinkster. It's not as well made as the Marlin, much like their lever-action is a weaker sister to the Marlin 39A. Brazil just can't quite cut the mustard when it comes to quality rifles.
