I feel your pain brother. My opinion is this; until the time they post a LEGAL notice that no CCW is allowed, then you can and should continue to carry concealed.
My story: I was on my church's security team comprised of mostly like minded individuals that only want to make sure the congregation is safe from fire, storm, heart attack, broken leg or active shooter. Active shooter is last in this list for a reason. It is the least likely scenario to happen. However, attacks on church congregations are increasing at an alarming rate and I think God gave us enough common sense to take care of certain situations, hence the reference to Jesus asking his disciples if they had any swords. Well, we had been doing a good job and the Elder's and Pastor decided to vote away the security team's right to exercise their Second Amendment right to carry concealed (for those that are licensed by the State of Texas) and my immediate response was to resign my position. I disarm for no man, period. The team leader feels exactly the way I do. I told my Pastor, who is a good friend, that not only was this a foolish decision, but if an active shooter ever did show up, it would cause more innocent blood to be spilled. I told him I was willing and able to stand between him and a bad guy, but not without the ability to protect myself, him and possible to kill the bad guy. Now, I am no longer on the security team, but I am in the congregation armed, willing and able to eliminate said BG per the team leaders instructions. I guess now I'm on the undercover security team. Luke 23 says this: 35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

A "Church Carry" bill just passed the Louisiana state house on the second vote, IIRC the vote was 74 -18. The bill still has to go before the state senate.
A local paper printed a letter from some pin head who opposed the bill. A very good friend of mine responded with a letter of his own. This is a thread that I started on that forum. The pin heads letter is linked in the op. http://www.bayoushooter.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=36006 Incidentally, just today in fact, that same paper printed an editorial that also opposed the bill. http://www.2theadvocate.com/opinion/93828384.html Art

I guess I am a little different. I have never been asked and I do not discuss or ask if I can carry wherever I may be and no one ever sees my firearm.
I have carried to church for many years, careful where I sit and am very comfortable being there. My firearm is not to protect others in the congregation and never has been, it is for MY protection and my wife. Don't threaten us and we will not bother you. Why would anyone ask or even let someone in the congregation know that you carry when you have no idea who the threat will eventually be? No one sees, no one asks and I do not tell, period in spite of owning the range and teaching concealed carry etc. every day. People might wonder or even guess, but they do not know and it is none of their business. However, now you have opened Pandoras box and you now have decisions to make and you can bet others in your church know all about your predicament. You have made yourself a pariah. UF |

Well, in my case my pastor knows I am a gun guy and approached me. The insurance does not recommend an armed team. But concealed carry is an option. There is a couple others we know are armed. I have been going to this church for 15 years and my pastor and many others there are just like my family. I would protect them in a heartbeat. Nobody knows I carry and I dont tell anybody. I am as discreet as possible. I couldnt sit under a pastor that was anti-gun.

This is a funny point, a church has the right to not allow guns but i can bet that if the bible said something about guns being religous they would all have one stashed under the pews loaded and cocked. I agree with the fact that i have a right to carry and if they dont like it then im findin a new church.

Church is a place of worship that gives you a chance to be with like mined folks and while i love that it doesnt mean im safe . So like others on here i agree, move on and continue to carry . At least you know you and yours are safe.

luckily, in my church everyone who is in good standing with the church is welcome to carry, so long as it's concealed during the services, and so long as they ask the pastor's permission first, though we don't legally need to since the building we meet at is rented and doesn't belong to the church.
but even if the pastor said no, and if the building did belong to the church, I would still carry; I'm not about to be unarmed in a place that's a ripe target for someone who hates God enough to try to kill His children as they worship him. then again, I wouldn't attend a church that explicitly forbade it's members to defend themselves in the house of God in the first place. Would not be surprised if my preacher did not have a pistol hidden in the pulpit. Loves to go hunting, shooting and collects guns.

Always cracks me up to hear someone say they dont attend ANY church because all churches are full of hyporites. No ****. You must stay home alot because there is not one single place on this planet that is not full of hypocrites, including YOUR home. Thats part of the reason we attend, to learn how to get closer to Him and get a better control on the hipocracy in our lives.
okie

If I was told that I could not carry, and than the pastor changed his mind when he found out I was leaving and he was going to lose his tithes, I would leave anyway. A Godly man should not roll over so easily. If he is willing to change his rules on firearms because of money, what else will he compromise? Godly men don't compromise and neither does God. So, if I can't pack, I'm out of there. Also, once a church openly states that there are no firearms allowed on the property, it becomes an easy hit and word gets around.
I used to attend a church where when one of the guys found out I carried CCW, he asked if I would sit towards the front by the pastor. I was honored. I always carry at church. |

One more thing. About two years ago an elderly woman came up to my side and put her arm around me during worship. Her right hand landed on my gun. She kept it there for a rather long moment and then patted me on the shoulder and kept singing (I was standing in the back because I was an usher). After the music was over we had a meet and greet time. She came back and gave me a big old hug and said that she was happy that I carried a gun. After that, that old gal always sat as close to my wife and I as she could and she never told a sole.

I have carried for years to church, as carjackings happen even on Sunday. And we sometimes stop for a bite to eat at Bruegger's. I'd feel naked in a restaurant situation without some cold steel at my side.
