Default Pre war PPK .23 with 6 point star

My Brother came into a Walther PPK Pre K serial number gun with a 6 point star after the serial number and I am wondering has any one else seen this configuration before? I have seen many but have not come accross this before?

We need someone who is better versed in PPs and PPKs. If that is a 6 didgit serial number it should have a Crown over and N proof mark, 1938/40. The closest mark to yours I could find is the the 6 pointed star that the Israeli Police used on their P-38s , a 6 pointed star with a stylized D in the middle. Your pictures are a little fuzzy but it appears that there is a mark in the middle os the star. Is there.?

Looks like a circle in the middle of the star to me but will try to get better pics.

A stylized Hebrew letter that resembles the letter D would appear as a circle. I think you have an ex Israeli police weapon. If they used P-38s in their early years there's no reason they also didn't use PPKs.

I can't help with the "star" (which looks more like a flower), but the gun dates to 1935 and the crown/N nitro proof marks appear to be present.

Jim, Zoom it up to 400 and it definatly looks like 6 pointed star. Identical to one shown in the Walther book.

The quick reference I use is Dieter H. Marschall's "WALTHER POSTOLS, MODELS 1 THROUGH P99" The illustration I was referring to is on page 84. It still looks like a 6 pointed star to me
