Just thought I'd check and see if anyone had heard of anything new being added to the C&R List? Either something new or a nice shipment of an already approved C&R eligible boatload of something interesting? I know this is wishful thinking with the administration we are stuck with for the next 2 1/2 years, but it was worth wishing.

C&R items are becoming available all the time, under the 50-year rule. But if you mean vast quantities of military surplus, I think most of that has dried up. Modern wars are fought with automatic weapons and, barring an unlikely change in US law, those will not be importable even if they came on the world arms market.
There might be warehouses full of K.98k's someplace, or more Mosin-Nagants sitting around, but those have been pretty well found and picked over already. Jim |

CZ82 is the only thing that just made C&R eligibility recently. Many are happy about that, its a popular handgun.

my 2 cents worth.... after the P64 and the CZ82 i would assume that other makarov pistols will go C&R shortly. i like the bulgarian makarov a lot, just ordered an unused, never issued one for $250. of course, will have to pay the FFL transfer fee but so what, a new production gun with this type of quality is easily 600-700 smackeroos.

First-year Marlin Model 60's just hit the 50-year mark.
Marlin model 99's were first produced in 1959, so they cracked it last year. Whether they will become Listed rifles...who knows...

To be recognized as C&R items, 478.11 specifies that firearms must fall within one of the following categories: a.Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas of such firearms; Those on the list were put there because of specific requests for firearms less than 50 yrs old, or because of confusion over the 50 yr. rule. And they are never removed even if well over 50. Last edited by jjk308; 07-09-2010 at 10:22 AM.. |
