I just got a P-64, which I thought might be a decent carry gun. The S/A trigger pull is nice. Trouble is; the D/A trigger pull, which, while physically possible to achieve, is a harder than Tibetan calculus.
The gun is not yet broken in, but even then, I cannot envision the trigger pull being less than the weight of a yearling Ibex. Is there a way to lighten the D/A trigger pull without altering the S/A pull? I'm not about to attempt this myself, but rather wish to inform my gunsmith (He's good. And cheap. Not fast, but then again, you can't have all 3) of where to look for info/what to do for this job. Any info would be most appreciated.

Funny you ask. I have one in my shop now were the trigger guard pivot pin keeps backing out. Simple enough. He called me yesterday and asked the same thing. Marco hit the nail on the head with that link. Thats about all you can do to lighten them b/c once you drop that main spring out, there is no resistance in the trigger at all. If wolf does not have the spring kit for that, a lighter weight mainspring for a 1911 will work too. You just have to cut it back a little so the hammer can completely cycle

Since this is a farily new item on the C&R list...
I would think that the same trigger/sear mating that is in most every semi-auto pistol and SHOULD be in this one could be smoothed a wee bit to make the trigger feel better & react more smoothly & crisply?? I've yet to even see one of these, but my curiousity is piqued I like Makarov chamberings ![]()

Wolff doesn't offer a reduced power spring, standard & extra power springs, but no reduced power spring. I guess I'll get a reduced power (<18 lb. 1911 spring).
Thanks for your assistance guys. |

Wolff does offer a reduced hammer spring. The factory hammer spring is about 24 lbs. Wolff offers 17, 18, 19, and 20 lb. hammer springs.
Wolff does not offer a reduced RECOIL spring. I have successfully replaced both the hammer spring and recoil spring in both of my P-64s. I put the 17 lb hammer spring in one and the 18 lb hammer spring in the other. Replacing the hammer springs does indeed lighten the DA trigger, however it also reduces the SA pull. |
