Question Big Shrek...Marlin question/opinion?

I have a Marlin model 882 ss micro-grove .22wmr
with a synthetic/black stock. Okay....
I'm trying to make this short and to the point...
Ive had it for years..
1) I hate synthectic stocks, which I know I can replace that.
2) It needs a new front sight, no problem.
3) Ive had this rifle since about 2002 and got it used and slapped a tasco
3-9x40 on it and got it zeroed in. Havent shot this rifle in some time, but, I'm
wanting to get it out and put a good scope on it and front sight and use it for hopfully, some up close coyote hunting.

I reckon my question is, as I know your a Marlin kind of guy...
How accurate can this rifle be?
Im trying to make the decision as wheather to keep it or go for another one.
Before I go putting any $'s in it.
I appreciate any and all comments/thoughts!
Thanks.
EDIT: Also, do you have any links where I might find a good wooden replacement stock for the 882ss, if I do decide to upgrade?

Howdy, That marlin can be very accurate, with a good scope and the right ammo. In 22WMR I like Hornady 30GR V MAx and fedreal 22MAG speer TNT HP. I have owned different types of marlin guns for 40 years with no real problems. I hear that the coyotes are good size in your neck of the woods. You sure you want to hunt coyote with a 22mag? Maybe you should look at a 22-250 or a 223 there good coyote killers, Thats my 2cents, good luck and have fun!!

The 882 series should be on par with the 25MN...meaning, with proper care, it'll shoot minute of squirrel-head at 75 yds with a good scope.

I wouldn't use a Tasco...bleah...get a GOOD scope.

The 882, was that a heavy .840 target barrel??
If not, you can replace it with an 883 from Numrich.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the bulge, as long as you don't get any further obstructions in the barrel.

CHECK it before shooting, you never know when a spider or dirt dauber might make a nest
