Civil War battles were fought all over the US. Some of these battles might be in your state.

The British Army burned Washington DC to the ground during the War of 1812. We didn't win this war, we just signed a peace treaty while crying uncle.

Along the same lines, I'm missing the connection between the Civil War and the War of 1812?

I accidently posted it below the Civil War post. I think that some tribes were allied with different sides. The Cherokee allied with the Confederacy and even formed regiments. There was even a Cherokee General in the Confederate army.

And the Cherokee never surrendered! They signed a cease fire agreement.
