Default Thinking about an IWB holster

Does anybody have any recommendations for a good, leather IWB holster for a 5" 1911?

I'm trying to look around at some, but I am not really sure of what to buy. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'd prefer something that is comfortable that will last.

IWB holsters are not for everyone. Some are comfortable and some are just plain awful depending on your size. If you have "love handles", you are better off to forget it. A good holster is an excellent investment if you carry on a daily basis like I do. I use a Wilson Combat Lo-Profile for my Commander and never know I have it on, even when driving. Don't forget, a good pistol belt is a must for support and weight distribution. You won't regret it.

For inexpensive IWB holsters I like Don Hume. I've got one of their IWBs for my SP101 and it's pretty sweet. I bought an IWB for my commander size 1911 from ebay but can't remember the name of the seller. I'm right-handed and carry the commander in a lefty IWB in the small of my back. Works well for me.

Crossbreed works for me. Kinda ugly but they are comfortable. http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Ho...6/Default.aspx

Alessi Talon clip. ALL my Paras ride in Talon clips or Guardians.

Tauris also makes excellent holsters.

And worth every penny.

I wear a Comp-Tac Minotaur. Comfortable even with "love handles".
Not all leather but I've been very pleased with the holster, belt and customer service.

I will second comptac. It is kydex but it is comfortable and very functional. I have one for every gun I carry concealed. I use the infidel it is the no frills ($55) but I find it easy to put on take off, quick to draw from, and easy to one hand reholster.

You don't see them as often as some other brands, but Gould & Goodrich make excellent, high-quality holsters. I like the way they protect my guns and the IWB holsters fit well and stay in place. Check the link: http://www.gouldusa.com/

I use a Milt Spark's VM-II with a Wilderness five stitch belt to carry my Combat Elite. The build quality on the holster is exceptional and the comfort is excellent. Not a cheap holster but it is one that will last.

Agreed dons2346, the Crossbreed IWB is comfortable for me too. Though, I don't care much what it looks like as long as it does the job. I carry at 4" 1911, but I believe the full size 1911 will fit this holster as well.

I'm lousy with acronyms, so this may be a dumb question.....what does IWB stand for?

Inside waistband meaning it goes inside your pants.

I have a Shielded Holster.

shieldedholsters@hotmail.com

The rig was 50.00 which included shipping and I had it in 8 days. Kurtis the owner is a great holster man and has INCREDIBLE customer service. My holster did not work as I had forgot to tell him about my novak sights. (My bad), he took it back and re did it and lined the kydex with leather for my troubles.

The man knows how to run a company. Its like the crossbreed but less money and less wait time.
