I have the exact same set that I too bought along time ago. I mainly use the saw when hunting if I cannot split the pelvis with a knife blade.

if i may ask how much you paid if you remember ?
it was $99 AUD then with the dollar about 72cents US i've put that saw through hell and back and its got a few scour marks and thats it! its as sharp as the day i bought it if i could get a blade like that for my reciprocating saw i'd never have to buy another blade for it again! |

Jack, that would be the "Sportsmans Blade Trader". Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (started to just write MSRP, and thought, "well, maybe they don't use that term in Oz") is 50 bucks.

My son gave me that set for Christmas back in 1995. The hinged piece on the handle finally worked loose and will not put sufficient pressure on the blade to hold it tightly in place. I used it as a camping tool for many years before putting it in the trash about a month ago.

My experiences with Kershaws are that they seem to come out of the box scary sharp. They hold an edge well for everyday light duty cutting. Mine have always been the single blade folders.

I have carried a Kershaw every day for almost 5 years now and cannot see myself ever carrying another brand of knife. Extremely well made, shaving sharp out of th ebox, and not only do they keep their edge extremely well, but when it does come time to sharpen them up, it is the work of only about aminutes time with a decent sharpening stone.
Plus the fact that 98% are made right here in the good ol USA. (And to be honest I have a few of the foreign made ones and there is a very noticeable difference between the blade qualities) |

I haven't bought the system yet, but I do have the KS-1120C Knife/Taskmaster shears combo that I absolutely will never part with.
