Amidst all the news these days that appear so negative, here is a light on the horizon. It was interesting to learn and I thought each would appreciate knowing about it. This is from today's WorldNetDaily News.

Doesn't it increase the body's acidity? Aren't health-conscious people supposed to drink tea instead? Isn't caffeine bad for you? If coffee were dangerous, then every morning emergency rooms around the world would be choked with people suffering the ill effects of our favorite breakfast beverage. Of course, this isn't the case. Coffee is not harmful. On the contrary, I consider it to be a health food, and hundreds of studies bear this out. A cupful of health benefits Coffee can stop migraine headaches, curb appetite, prevent tooth decay and increase the effectiveness of aspirin and other analgesics (Anacin and Excedrin both contain caffeine). Here are some other benefits researchers have discovered.
First, that cup of java is a terrific source of protective antioxidants. Researchers evaluating both the antioxidant levels of various foods and drinks and the frequency with which those items are consumed have found that the average amount of coffee consumed by American adults per day – 1.64 cups – provides 1,299 mg of antioxidants. Tea, the second richest source, supplied only 294 mg, followed by antioxidant-rich (but sparingly eaten) fruits and vegetables, which provide fewer than 75 mg each of antioxidants per day. Believe it or not, coffee even contains fiber – nearly 2 g per cup. But these aren't the only components that make coffee a health food. Although some studies reveal that regular and decaffeinated coffee both have benefits, oft-maligned caffeine gives the drink much of its oomph. In addition to perking up the nervous system, caffeine increases the activity of the neurotransmitter dopamine and enhances delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles and brain. Drink up, but don't go overboard Coffee does have a few downsides that are most problematic with excessive use. For example, it can exacerbate anxiety and give you the jitters. And, when prepared without a paper filter, coffee may raise cholesterol. People who have osteoporosis or who are pregnant can enjoy an occasional cup of coffee, but should limit their intake. But for most of us, enjoying a cup or two of Joe every day is a good way to boost mood, energy and overall health.

GOOD NEWS!
I too have had some problems with kidney stones. However, my brother, who drinks very little coffee, has had even more problems. I have found, through individual research, that drinking one or two beer every so often seems to help with the stones.

It also makes any kind of inflammation or histamine related bodily response worse. E.g., neuropathy, bronchospasms, osteoarthritis, herniated disks causing nerve impingement (sciatica, etc.).

All I know is, if I drink coffee (cup or two a day) for 6-9 months, I get stones. When I quit, so do the stones. I don't see this as coincidence.
I LOVE coffee, but it don't share the feelings. ![]()

Tea will do that, too - oxalic acid causes it.
I was raised on coffee - my grandfather gave me my first cup in the early winter on his farm in the Northern Piedmont of Virginia, I can still remember the taste. Lots of sugar and milk in it. I was five or six years old. My family was known in Alexandria as "them coffee-drinkin' people." My great-grandmother had a kitchen on the back of her house built on a slope, so the kitchen porch was about eight feet off the ground. There was a pile of coffee grounds that generally ran about six feet high behind it. My grandfather would shovel out the bottom of the pile every year to put around the azaleas. Like I said, I was raised on the stuff. Tried quitting a couple of times, but had terrible headaches for about three weeks, so I gave up and went back to it. Cut way back, though, down to about a gallon a day. Still, when grocery shopping, I'd pick up the darkest beans I could find in the "grind it yourself" aisle, and munch 'em while I shopped. About six months ago, I was bitching and moaning to Daddy (THE Daddy, God, the Boss) about my physical ailments. I'd come to the conclusion that I was entitled to a magical healing. After I came to my senses and realized I was indulging in self-importance, I got the Voice. "Most of your problems are due to inflammation. Coffee causes inflammation." I resolved to stop drinking it. Immediately lost my taste for coffee, no headaches, haven't had any since. The physical ailments haven't been much of a problem since that time, either. I think there's probably still a tear in the left knee meniscus, but it hasn't hurt any. And the doubly-herniated disk in the lumbar region is probably still bulging, but I can feel all my toes. You get the idea.

Unfortunately both my kidneys failed on me and I did dialysis for almost two years. I was them fortunate enough to be blessed this a kidney transplant. When I got my new kidney. My kidney doctor told me to drink like a fish. Most people get kidney stones because they don't drink enough water. I cant speak for the coffee issue. Just make sure that if you do drink coffee that you also drink like a fish in the water. Caffeine is a diuretic which basically makes your body depletes of leeches fluids like water. That's why you have to pee.

lol..2 pot a morning for 40 some yrs..quit once for 3 yrs..missed it the whole time..still do a pot a morning..sometime 1 in evening too..one of my 3 vices..replaces booze!
