Default Long Range Hunting/Shooting

I have a real good friend with a lot of great hunting property. He and his Dad before him build "houses" that are comfortable for all day hunting. My favorite sits on the side of a steep hill, accross a deep gorge, with the impact area running from 302 yards for the closest shot, to 600 at the far end.

The animals don't pay any attention to activity accross the gulch, and we get some great shots at long ranges.

Can someone give me good ballistics on 7 mm mag, with deer sized bullets. When I changed my dead on range from 300 yards to 450, I found 21 inches drop in that last 150 yds.

Takes a lot of practice, but is very rewarding. What does everyone have to say?

On the 7mm REM MAG; 150gr. PSPCL, the MV= 3,110fps and @ 50yds 1.0", 100yds-2.5", 150yds-3.0", 200yds-2.2", 250yds-0.2", 300yds-(-3.4"), 350yds-(8.5" with a MPBR of 296yds.

175gr. PSPCL, the MV= 2,860fps and @ 50yds-1.2", 100yds-2.7, 150yds-2.9", 200yds-1.9", 250yds-(-0.7"), 300yds----with the MPBR of 281yds.

I have the Savage 110 and it will hold a good group several hundred yards.

You have a good long range caliber. You could check specs on different bullet manufactures. Then keep practicing till you get what you want.

Thanks Guys. When I changed the zero from 300 to 450, it took four shots to be inside a 4 inch circle. I am looking forward to deer season.
