If you go to Google and type in 12 gauge 3 1/2 shells, there is a great article just under Midway's add, it is the third one down. I am not smart enough to attach the link or I would. I started to explain to you about diameters and pressures when I found this guys site looking for back up of my position. He does a good job of explaining it.
Bottom line you will not be so quick to abandon the idea of shooting a 10 gauge. Ron Last edited by muddober; 11-13-2010 at 08:38 AM.. |

I have a single shot break action H&R model 176 10 gauge with a 36" barrel and a case of #3 steel shot. More fun to shoot that is allowed by law and I would never give it up. Doesn't shoot 000 or 00 buck shot worth beans with that full choke but anything from # 7 1/2 up to #3 patterns beautifully. Who needs buck shot? Get it, shoot it and enjoy. The grin will last long after you clean and put away the gun. Recoil isn't that bad either and it impresses the big hairy grizzled old folks who won't touch it for fear they would swallow their chaw.
