over the early years there were a number of rimfire cartriidges, probably of just about every caliber.i also know that some of these early rifles and revolvers had ammo made by the manufacture and were not common.if you are looking for ammo you might try (the old western scrounger) GOOD LUCK. old semperfi

What information are you looking for, Info about the 38 Rim Fire or location of Ammo. 38 Rim Fire is fairly cheap, 4.50 to 3.50 for a single round of 38 Long Rim Fire, now 38 Short Rim Fire is a little better , from 4.00 to 2.50 per single round. The .38 Short Rim Fire was a pistol round and the 38 Long Rim Fire was considered a revolver and rifle round. Both black powder and I don't think anyone has chambered any type of firearm for either one for over a hundred years. Not interchangeable with any type of center fire cartridges.

Yeah, Iver Johnson made a few guns chambered for .32 and .38 rimfire in the late 1800's.

they would be worth something to a collector of arms that use them. to have a full box to go with a prized firearm would be a real find
