Default H&R 20 gauge shotgun

My son was given a 20 gauge shotgun from my grandfather, and I was hoping to find out when it was made.

It says, "Bay State, Worchester, Mass, USA" on the side
The serial number is A778011, which is stamped behind the trigger and on the barrel.
On top of the barrel is says, "MADE IN USA 20GA CHOKE"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

-->

The Blue Book states that the Pre-fix A was used in 1940.
