Have model 142A mossberg T bolt. Does anyone know if original magazine was ajustable for short, long and long rifle? I know the so called "magic" clip came in about 1960. My rifle was made 1949-1954. Its current magazine does however give trouble when trying to feed shorts and longs. Thanks in advance.

Your 142A (.22 short: Long and Long Rifle) came with a 7rd. clip magazine; adjustable for .22 Longs;LR; and short. No "magic'; you set up the magazine by inserting the supplied pin for the shorts; removed it for the Longs and LRs. The pin insured that the shorts were in the proper posistion to feed; without flopping back and forth in the magazine. That "magic clip" was around way before the '60s! |

The 142A was made 1949-1957.
22 Long Rifle, Long, Short, 7 shot detachable box magazine R632. Here's info on the original mag. ![]()
