Got myself a Viridian C5 Green Laser from Opticsplanet just before X-Mas. I had tried out 3 in the past - one Barska, one UTG and can't remember the other. They either flew off the gun after a couple of shots, totally fell apart and/or just stopped working before 100 rounds. Having read good reports on the Viridian I thought to give it one last try.
I tried it out on a new Glock 30 SF and Keltec PLR 16. Now a laser, no matter how strong, will NOT make you into an instant sharpshooter. I am also waiting for laser guided pistol ammo to be invented...:-) Those 2 guns, especially the PLR16 have pretty formidable recoils but the C5 handled them both without a hiccup. I ultimately left it mounted on the PLR16 because it shoots .223's and is pretty accurate out to at least 50 yards. Just made sense to use this impressive green laser on that gun. After sighting in at 25 yards i move the target out to 50 and got all hits on a 9" paper plate. Good enough for my taste. A decent red laser like the Lasermax micro is really all you need on a pistol for self defense shooting out to a max of maybe 15 yards. Zero the laser is at 15Y, not closer than that.

Probably great advice for more than one reason too, that 15 yard thing.... any further away from the bad guys and you may have legal problems...
