I doubt anyone can tell me much about this one, but my grandson just aquired it and wanted to know if any info was available.
The steel is quite hard; he stoned the blade for five hours before he got a fair edge on it.
The metal-to-metal and metal-to-wood fit is very good, and the grain of the wood on the handles is quite good looking.
There is not one mark or lettering of any kind anywhere on this one.

Anyone?

What kind of wood do you suppose that handle is?
Grain does not look quite right for walnut -

The more I look at that knife the more I like and admire it. Great piece and a great find for you grandson. Just a guess but that wood looks a little like some rosewood, a little too dark maybe, some stain you suppose? You would think after putting all that work into it the maker would of marked it. Never the less great knife.

That looks like a handmade custom.....and very cool

Many moons ago when I worked on lineboats on the river...an engineer made one per trip...some were similar to that...amazing quality

I am thinking the same here, I think that bad boy was hand made. Even though the wood fits nice and tight and the handle is all snug up like it is supposed to be, if you look at the two sides they are not even. Can you post a of handle from the top and the bottom?

I'm leaning towards pakistan made.the handle appears to be a laminate.there is one very simular in the blue ridge knife book for 10.95 retail. the handle is not as long as that one.

that is just my opinion

My admittedly limited experience with Pakistani knives is that if you actually use them, they dull VERY fast, and the hardware all wears and loosens up. Sharpening is really easy because of the soft steel.

This knive has been used a lot, as it was very dull, yet everything is tight.
And the sharpening took a LONG time -

Here are additional pictures of this knife; left side, right side, front and back.

It is absolutely not symetrical, left to right.
Which proves, I believe, that it did not come from a factory.
But is it a high quality custom from a guy that wanted the blade to be 2 degrees off to the right when he was skinning with it in his right hand, or is it a product of some guy working with a file over a camel-dung fire whose mind was distracted by a good looking goat outside his tent?

Personally, I think the quality of the steel and the fit indicates the former, but I am NO KNIFE EXPERT, which is why I posted this here for thoughts.
