You have to pull the plunger after closing the bolt to cock it. The two screws on the side do nothing. I thought they were just to plug holes for some type of scope mount. I made the rear sights and also made the front sight post and hood. The swivels could be aftermarket. When you say Model 69 you arent refering to Winchester 69 are you?

speaking of the ranger- pull back to cock.. same as one of mine.. -- but i was referring to the 69 and 69a model about the Winchester........ and the other ranger i have is the model 103-2
and i believe you are right about the 2 screws on the other ranger.
and of course the 69 and 69a model winchester stocks are interchangeable

been finding a wealth of info on ebay.... catalogs printed serial numbers for winchester and so on.....just thought i would throw that out there and have a nice day

I have a winchester 69 22 short it's missing the bolt assembly I would love to find that part so I can fire the weapon I have every part pritty much restored and I'm making it look as original as possible
