Alright, I imagine I'll find out just exactly how "unprepared" I really am but ...........


How much ammo of what caliber do you have - and maybe more importantly, is it enough ?

Me, I have just over 2,000 rounds of .45, about 1500 rounds of 9mm, 2600 rounds 7.62x39, 250 7.62x54R, 400 rounds .44 mag, almost 3000 .22LR, and maybe 200 each .380 and .32 ..... oh yeah, also have about 750 12 guage mixed shot and slugs.



Another question: what, if anything, is on your nightstand or "at hand" at night ? For me, it's the 9mm Sig on the nightstand (because the front nightsight on my Kimber is still out - damn Meprolight sights) and a Winchester "Home Defender" 12 ga pistol grip in the corner.



Paranoid ? No, prepared.

oh i think 50 - 10mm rounds, 30 - 12. ga shells, 5 - .270 rounds (goin to buy more tomarrow) couple hundred .22 rounds.


hummmm as for the bedside question,,,, theres the 10mm glock 20 in the gun cabinet drawer beside the bed.

I truly have no idea how much ammunition I have.

On the nightstand, Springfield Armory .45 with Trijicon nightsights. On the wife's side, KelTec P32. In the corner, ratty old Winchester 1200 riot with #4's.

My wife liked my P32 ..... until I was foolish enough to get her a Beretta Tomcat (for Valentines day no less ! - and she liked the gift - now there's a "good woman" !!!).

Now I have the KelTec in the center console most of the time (or front pocket, rear pocket, or clipped inside the front of my belt) .... she loves her TomCat.

Hmmmm, about 1200 or more rounds of 7.62x39, maybe 60 rounds of .303 (I'm working on that part), 4,000 or so rounds of .22lr from regular to hollowpoint, maybe 20 rounds of 30-06, 40-80 rounds of .38 (no I don't keep track that well), and at least 800-1000 rounds of 9mm (350 of which are hollow points and 15 rounds have pretty blue coloring on the bullets).

Not nearly enough ammo but I'm working on it daily.

Beretta 92F 9mm next to the bed and if I wasn't such a restless sleeper I'd probably have the gun under the pillow).

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000 loaded rounds.

Nightstand weapon is a Remington 870 express cut down with pistol grip and a Laser sighting device.

A few thousands rounds of each, .223, 762X39, 8mm mauser, 9mm, .22, about 5 or 6 hundred rounds of each, .357, .45, 30/30, 50 rounds of 7.62X25 and a bunch of misc. boxes of 300 win mag, 12 gauge etc. etc. and a bunch I have forgotten about at this time.

Beretta 92fs under pillow.

BGH228, one shot one kill was a good book, have you read it yet?

over a dozen pieces, 500-1000 rds for the rifles, ~200 shotgun, at least 200 for the handguns, and about 2000 for .45 (like to shoot it in bunches).

And an 40mm ammo can chock-full of an assortment of ammo, at my mountain vacation home, in case I forget to bring some ammo when I take a piece up there with me.

Yee-Gads! I would have to count it by the crate. I am assuming around 50,000 to 75,000 rounds. Of course, being an old C&R collector, I have all sorts of odd ball stuff.

I guess that estimate range includes the coffee cans full of odd ball stuff! Most of my coffee cans contain sorted empty brass waiting to be reloaded.

I got hardly any ammo at all cept for a few thousand of .22. every time I get a pile I go shoot it. You guys need to go shoot more.

A more fitting question would be how much ammo have you shot in the past month.
12 ga. a couple cases
.308 a couple thousand
.45 ACP a couple thousand
I do have a couple hundred on hand of the following
.22-250
.30-30
600 rnds of .30-06 all loaded in Garand clips
.45 ACP
.308
16 ga.
.410

Keep my series 70 ACP handy all the time.

Geez, I better start buying ammo instead of guns...

7.62x54R about 450 rounds give or take, about 50 rds on strippers in pouches...
7.62x39 about 120 rounds, about half on strippers in pouches. (left...)
8x56RH about 100rds
.22LR about 400rds
12 guage, about 40 slugs left after deer season (have to count!), about 20 rds OOB, about 30rds factory #6 left, about 200 rds #7 1/2 reloads, and about a thousand hulls, (still need to load my BuckNBall...) 25 .690 balls, about 15 lbs of 7 1/2 shot, about 10 lbs of mixed Buck, from 0 to .44 (0000?) plus misc. 12 guage wads, cups, BPGSs, buffer, etc...
16 guage about 10 slugs, about 30 factory #6s
20 guage, about 20 slugs, about 20 rds #6s, 20 rds #8s
About 100 rds .45 SWC and Hardball, about another 500 once fired, and prepped WCC cases, and about 3000SWC bullets and about 1200 primers.

Under the bed, .45, hanging on the bedpost, the '97, first on the rack (for my wife to grab) a Savage 220 single 12, and I've also started leaving a loaded clip for the Astra on the dresser too...

Geeeeeeeesh, how much ammo shot a month, I couldn't even begin to guess (when at work). But went to the range Wednesday and shot a half brick trying to sight in a $15.00 scope on my Ruger .920" 10/22. DUH! I had the scope set in off set,(ginch eyed) . Go ahead laugh, I did!

don't have much in the way of ammo but for things that go bump in the night its really hard to beat a half dozen oil drums filled with styrofoam and gasoline wrapped with steel fence posts and barbed wire all tied together with primer cord and hung in the trees around the house, they might get close but they won't get away

I might have to upgrade the alarm system on my house....
