Default Boxer to Introduce Common-Sense Concealed Firearms Act of 2011

This lady needs to go in a bad way. Does she not realize that this is unconstitutional, and it only makes law abiding citizens less safe????

Boxer to Introduce Common-Sense Concealed Firearms Act of 2011

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today announced that next week she will introduce the Common-Sense Concealed Firearms Act of 2011, which would require all states that allow residents to carry concealed weapons in public to have minimum standards for granting permits.

Senator Boxer said, “The tragic events in Tucson earlier this month are a reminder of why we need common-sense gun laws. This measure will establish reasonable permitting standards for Americans who wish to carry concealed firearms. According to a recent poll, more than 60 percent of respondents believe there should be a reasonable permitting process for those who wish to carry concealed firearms.”

Senator Boxer’s legislation would require all states that allow residents to carry concealed weapons to establish permitting processes that would include meaningful consultation with local law enforcement authorities to determine whether the permit applicant is worthy of the public trust and has shown good cause to carry a concealed firearm.

Currently, two states do not permit residents to carry concealed firearms, while three states, including Arizona, allow residents to carry concealed firearms in public without a permit. The other 45 states require residents to obtain permits to carry concealed firearms, but the majority of these states would not meet the standard set in this bill.

Senator Boxer plans to introduce the legislation when the Senate reconvenes next week.

Oxymoron- Barbara Boxer and 'common sense'. You could also substitute Boxers name with Lib Democrat.
How about a minimum standard for voting? Or political speech?
Many Libs know that Lib Police Chiefs and Sheriffs will determine that most won't have 'good cause' and simply deny the permit. And don't even get me started about who is "worthy of the public trust"!
Why don't we apply that idea to those seeking public office?
In addition, this oversteps the power of the States to govern themselves, but hey, that's what this power mad broad has always been about!
If one carefully listens to her speeches, you can't but come to the conclusion that she really is stupid.

Typical liberal nonsense that will benefit nobody. Common place for these brainless idiots. Oh, and rental, you ask if she realizes this in un-constitutional? Since when did they start recognizing the constitution?

Making laws that limit individual freedom, just to protect from the very few nut jobs that crack is just stupid and ineffective, because a lot of the time, they can pass any background check, and even if they didn't they get their guns in other ways.

How can someone with no sense, propose something based on common sense?

Once again no solutions, just political grandstanding. The Democrats are shameless

Common sense gun law! Boxer has no ccommon sense!
To permit or not permit concealed carry, has nothing to do with preventing criminals from shooting people. What in the blazes is wrong with these people wet elected?

as much as i would love to see change in washington, a revolution would likely make things a hundred times worse. Simply because it wouldn't be a People V. the government thing. you'd have the tea partiers and republicans going up against the democrats and half the socialists, the rest of the socialists would be fighting both of them, and everyone would be fending off the American nazi's, most likely the best armed of all of them.

And that's not even mentioning the small fringe groups like the Israeli Church of Universal Practical knowledge who pretty much want to see all white people wiped off the face of the eart.

In all I give it six months before we see the rise of mad max. Sad part of it is the government knows this, giving them leeway to do what they want, like shove health care down the throats of people who don't want it.

They seem to think that that criminals obey the law. That's the level of sense the common senator has.

Firearm laws are governed by the state.

Some places have open carry, some don't. Some have have right to carry, some don't. Some places you can shoot full auto, most not.

Seems to me, she's wasting her time again.
Yet another annoyance to get in the way of what truly needs attention.

Can you believe that Madam Boxer was just re-elected for another term!?! She has got to be one of the most lame-brained Liberals in Congress, and California given her 6 more years. Jeez, we have sure given more than our fair share of nitwits to Congress. Pelosi Galore, Diane Feinstein, Boxer, Hardin, Waxman, Waters and on and on. She may put up such a bill, but who's concentrating on new gun laws at present? There's a few thing a little more important going on right now. TJ

Any "requirement" to carry a firearm is a violation of the Due Process of Law. You're being "required" to do something in order to exercise a Constitutional right. It's no different than say - poll taxes. And let's not forget, the Second Amendment IS an individual right - which the Supreme Court agrees on - and it does say "shall not be infringed."

The same logic could be used to outlaw background checks, too, but personally I leave that up to the owner of the business selling the guns. If they want to run a background check, or not, that's up to them. They're the ones who are going to get sued for supplying a gun to a criminal though.

You know, you want "common sense" gun laws... Take away all the restrictions and let anybody who can pass a background check carry a gun anywhere they see fit. I think criminals would certainly be a little more scared because now instead of running into the cops, they're going to run into a hundred people with handguns. People might call this idea ludicrous, I would call it effective. And it can be backed up by facts. Take any state that has legalized concealed carry. Crime rates have gone down, not up. And whether I or some liberal idiot agrees with the practice or not, ultimately it's your life and the choice should be yours whether or not you want to defend it with a deadly weapon.

Now what would have been Boxer's reaction had Loughner taken an automobile and ran over all those people instead? Would Boxer be calling for more restrictive laws against automobiles? Probably not. She's just like these Brady Campaign pieces of garbage with their "assault" this, "assault" that. If someone handed her a gun, she'd probably hurt herself with it. That's how much she knows about guns.

this is true, look at Finland(?), I think its the fins that have a requirement that all males have a firearm and ammo ready, and they've got one of the lowest crime rates of all.

Gun control laws only DON'T do damage, if your society already isn't violent, and even then it has no effect on crime.

I would suggest that Ms. Boxer work to get the laws in her own state modified first so "trustworthy people" can carry concealed... From what I hear, it's pretty much impossible in CA.

How dare you interject common sense into a Democrats line of thought!

We think alike. This should be done immediately. All I know is if they outlaw guns, then I will be a outlaw. I really don't care any more, either.

With no adults in the White House the Dems are in real trouble. Obama has a failing economy unknown in American history. He is deep in wars and cannot close Gitmo as he promised the left. This is a major failure for the left. They will start bringing up isssue like gun control, abortion rights etc to get some shade from all the heat. With the country going to Hell and 15 million people out of work guess what? Obama went to Florida to push for a Natl. Law on school Bullying. Why are the Feds going after 12 year old kids who fight after school? An old and honered American tradition. This will allow the FBI to go after these 8th grade outlaws. They will try anything to get Americans to look tghe other way.

She's not stupid - like Reid, Pelosi and a few others who are currently in "high office", when it comes to OUR constitutional rights, she is a real, clear dangerous threat and the longer she and others like her are permitted to remain in office, the greater the risk to us all.

From the very begining we've always had "stupid" people like Boxer in our governments; Federal, State, County and local levels and we've survived because people like Reid, Pelose, Boxer and their like were and remain - out numbered by far more sane individuals but I suggest to you that TERM LIMITS would prove to be an extra step which would help to automatically flush such pests out of our government systems and do it in a timely manner.

I really don't care anymore. Who is honestly going to listen when they try to tell states what to do with regards to carry permits/guns?

Especially where the people are pretty hardcore about state's rights?

Because in the Liberal World of Fantasy NO ONE EVER LOSES!!! In a real fight someone has to lose! But the loser never likes it! So, no child left behind, and other utter nonsense laws have come into effect to protect those that are deemed to be losers so that they don't get their feelings hurt, and can't be labeled LOSERS! Parents, if your child is being bullied, then teach your child how to fight! You think fighting is wrong? Then don't teach your child how to fight, move to the Liberal World of Fantasy! But don't come looking for me to fix your weakkneed, lillylivered self, or your disfunctional child!

Just like the light bulb issue, the Feds keep sticking their noses where they don't belong. I'm curious as to how many members of the current Congress have read the Constitution and are even aware of their role in this government. They should be focused entirely on what they were elected to do, at the federal level, not wasting precious time and taxpayer money with light bulbs, states' rights issues, and worrying about which baseball players may or may not be on steroids.

This is just more liberal bull doo, but it does keep attantion away from the fact that our economy is the Titanic, and the liberals have opened the sea cocks while the conservatives bail with a teaspoon. Meanwhile, King Barry and Marie Antoinette Obozo party their brains out and we are supposed to tighten our belts.

Unless these corrupt, self-serving parasites do a quick about-face, it ain't the concealled firearms they need to worry about.

Boxer along with several other old time extreme liberals have to gooo! I think there may be a chance for most of our country to get rid of some of them in the very near future, but California just doesn't have enough people with common sense to get it done!
