What little I know is that it is an Eagle-Officers Belt/Sword Buckle from around 1851 through 1974. I would say the same is true about the belt. Who made it? it would take a more knowledgeable person than I to say.

Hard to say. The only thing that i could say to have done is carbon date it. I dont know where you can have that done at.

Don't know about the belt and buckle, but that's a nice CDV of Fredrick Benteen. (Taken much later than the Little Big Horn)

reinhard,
Too bad you can't connect the belt to Benteen.

You might want to read up on him here.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Benteen

The extra strap is the hanger for the scabbard.
