Default 1860 Colt Army Markings

I have an 1860 Colt Army that seems to be original except for the markings under the barrel in front of the trigger guard. It has 2 E's there that I have never seen in any other photos of the 1860 colt. Does anyone have any information on these markings.
Thanks

Sorry I can't help on the "E" s, but your wedge is in backwards.
