Default Maybe not the end of the world but were we close?

Well, we may not have seen the end of the world, but from where I was we were close. My wife had some business in Unst today, so we went up. Drove from Lerwick to Toft, took the ferry across the Yell sound to Yell. Drove the length of Yell to Gutcher, took the ferry across the Blumull sound to Belmont in Unst, drove up to Baltasound. Latitude 60º 45'. Shortest day of the year, it got light @0900; began getting dark @1530.

From what I hear, Valhalla Brewery in Unst makes a potent product.

Good reason to hope the world ends...That's UK Pence/Liter. Diesel on the left, Gasoline on the right. Between $5-6per US gallon for Diesel, a little over $5/US gallon for gasoline.

A comfortable place to wait for a bus or the end of the world...

Is this it? No. It's 1200; the end of the world was supposed to have been 45 minutes ago.

Don't worry, they'll come up with some other doomsday theory soon so they can make more cheesy movies and TV shows to entertain us.

That last picture is very cool.

About 80% of the cost is taxes of one form or another. Excise tax makes up a large chunk of it, then they charge 20%VAT on the cost of gas + excise tax. I don't do as much driving as I would like.

My wife was driving; I was taking pictures--her company car. She laughed about the "wrong side of the road" comment: says it's all a matter of perspective.

Our cars are all right hand drive, so they are on the right side; everyone else's is on the wrong side or whatever side is left.
