August1410,

Your 922 has the two piece grip panels on the "old style" square butt. That feature makes it a 3rd Variation made between 1932 and 1937, and the serial number indicates it was made about 2/3s of the way through that range - so it's more likely made a year or so after 1933. You have a very nice condition example.
I've attached a couple pics for comparison.

afwingnut,
Early ones have no "automatic" cylinder stop. That came later with changes to lock-work, but right now I can't remember when - I believe it was around the mid '30s with the change to the "Rice" type grip.

Jim,
I have a 922 serial 125814. The hammer has a piece broken off that held the hammer away from the cylinder. Of course it's missing so I don't know what it looks like to try and repair.
Do any of your references show a picture of the hammer itself. (Numrich doesn't have any)
Thanks,
Bob

I'll send a picture if I can figure out what my URL is...

Hello, I recently acquired an H&R 922 revolver. Serial number 152306 with wood grips. Grips have the number 96 etched into them. I was wondering what year this revolver was made. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank. you.
