I worked over a Single Six Anniversary by replacing the alloy grip frame with a Single Six Short steel frame and a steel ejector housing and had to work both the cylinder frame and grip frame thus needing a refinish job. I also added a Ron Powers Half Cock hammer and trigger kit. The kit gives a creep free trigger and a cylinder that lines up with the ejector when on half cock. I removed the billboard and the anniversary roll stamping from the barrel thus with the other work left this gun looking rather rough. My plan was to CCH the cylinder frame, loading gate, and hammer and have the rest reblued. Even thou I've always shunned faux antique finishes I did a quick one on this gun to shoot it with till I was ready to get the finish work done but it really is starting to grow on me. Give me an opion keep it like it is or go ahead and refinish it.

I'm a great fan of "old guns" myself and I think it looks great just the way 'tis.

One of the reasons Japan did not attack the US main land was because the American hunter was the largest army in the world.

Johnlivesforchrist signature says: I believe it will come to a point where we as gun owners and constitutionalists will need to use our guns in defense of our country, constitution, personal liberties and our lives. May God have mercy on the souls of those that try to take any of these things from me.
Stupid me I guess signatures dont follow through on a quote. One of the reasons Japan did not attack the US main land was because the American hunter was the largest army in the world. http://www.usacarry.com/forums/gener...gest-army.html Last edited by Rick O'Shay; 02-13-2011 at 09:24 PM.. |

Id leave it rick. It looks fantastic the way it is, I share bertos enthusiasm for antique weapons.

i disagree with berto and jla. i think that if it was honest wear it'd be awesome, but being that its fake... i'd refinish.
if i was wanting to have someone replace the backstrap on my six, where would yall recommend sending it? and what about a blued ejector rod housing? any recommendation for that? or just buy one off ruger |

I'd keep it looking old and just work on improving the old look. You would surprise a lot of people with a nice "Old" looking Ruger. You have done a fantastic job so far. I think it looks fantastic. Give yourself a pat on the back.
If you could get rid of the roll mark on the side, it would look even better, Ruger puts everything but the name of the person who assembled it and the days weather report on the side. My Best, John K Last edited by dksac2; 02-13-2011 at 11:22 PM.. |

I've never been a great fan of the antiqued look either, but dang, that thing does look pretty good just the way it is.
