Sorting thru some keepers and some that are going to auction and came across this little # Its a magazine fed Marlin Firearms Corp. with the last pat. date 1917. It is stamped 22 long rifle only smokeless and greased. Any comments on this one as far as rarity, worthlessness, keeper?????

It is a straight pull with a small round knobbed charging handle.

No idea, but it sure sounds like an interesting old rifle.
If it's in good condition and the price is right, I'm sure it would be a good deal. Old 22's are becoming very collectable due to their lower price. Lots of people like myself would like to build a collection of old guns but just don't have 3-5K to plunk down on one gun. Most RF's can be had for $500 and under, some are more, but they are still somewhat reasonable even thought 15 years ago, people were almost giving them away. Times have changed. John K |

BOLT ACTION? Are you saying it's a bolt action with a charging handle that you pull back? Does it look like this? My Marlin Model 100 single shot. ![]() ![]()

This Marlin I have is a semi-auto,magazine fed rifle. The action would probably be comparable to a Stevens model 87.

Ok, we have determined it's a semi auto 22.
It's one of these. AUTOLOADING RIFLES Model 50 - 1931-1935. Model 50E - 1931-1934. Model A-1 - 1936-1940. Model A-1E - 1935-1946. Model A-1C - 1941-1946. Model A-1DL - 1941-1946. Model 88-C - 1948-1956. Model 88-DL - 1953-1956. Model 89-C - 1948-1961. Model 89-DL - 1950-1961. Model 98 - 1957-1959. Model 99 - 1959-1960. Model 99C - 1961-1978. Model 99G - 1960-1965, Marlin Glenfield. Model 60 - 1960-present, Marlin Glenfield Model 99DL - 1960-1964. Model 49 - 1968-1970. Model 49DL - 1971-1978. Model 99M1 - 1964-1978. Model 989M2 - 1966-disc. Model 989 - 1962-1965. Model 70 (HC) - 1966-1995, Marlin Glenfield. Model 989G - 1962-1964, Marlin Glenfield. Model 990 - disc. I'll guess it's a Model 50. The Marlin Model 50, semi-automatic rifle was made from 1931 to 1935. It was the only Marlin semi-automatic rifle to fire from an "open bolt". Marlin Model 50 ![]()

Here is a picture. I don't think it's the model 50. The take down screww is located forward of the mag well. Do you have a picture of your magazine, I've misplaced mine and I'm not sure the one I have in the rifle is the right one. Thanks

I say it's a 'gold toe'......20% cotton, 80% acrylic.

Maybe one of the A-1 series. If so, they have magazines (unless you're in NYC!)
