I heard in the news today that some dimwit Dem. in Hawaii is pushing a new bill that outlaws the sale of capguns and squirtguns to anyone under the age of 18. This stuff is getting wayyy out of hand. Imagine selling a super soaker to some kid and you pay a $2000 fine and jail time. WTH!

Now all that's needed is a ban on all the other guns in society !
Let's start with those cathode ray tubes in older TV's.......X-ray machines in dentists' and doctor's offices......air/gas nailers, pump spray bottles for everything from lime cleaners to perfume.....aerosol cans/bottles.....fuel injectors.....ad infinitum.......!! IOW, these toys are being targeted for "PC" reasons, not any demonstrable harm to society ! >MW |

There are more child deaths caused by bathtubs than by firearms. Outlaw bathtubs now!

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
H.B. NO. 432 TWENTY-SIXTH LEGISLATURE, 2011 STATE OF HAWAII A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to toy guns. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Chapter 709, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows: "§709- Sale of toy guns to minors prohibited. (1) It shall be unlawful to sell, attempt to sell, or offer for sale a toy gun to a minor under eighteen years of age; provided that it shall be an affirmative defense to any prosecution that the: (a) Purchaser falsely represented the purchaser's age by producing a driver's license bearing a photograph of the licensee, a state identification card, or similar card purporting to be a valid identification card indicating that the purchaser was eighteen years of age or older; (b) Appearance of the purchaser was such that an ordinary prudent person would believe the purchaser to be eighteen years of age or older; and (c) Sale was made in good faith relying upon the indicators of age in paragraphs (a) and (b). (2) Any person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of not more than $2,000, imprisonment of not more than ninety days, or both." SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date. SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored. SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. INTRODUCED BY: _____________________________ Report Title: Sale of Toy Guns; Minors; Prohibition; Penalty Description: Prohibits the sale of toy guns to minors. If state Representative Scott Saiki (pronounced "psyche") has his way, anyone who intentionally sells a squirt gun to anyone under the age of 18 could face penalties of 90 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $2000. So if you are 18 can you buy a cap gun/squirt gun for a kid and give it to them or will you be fined for the illegal transfer of the gun.
Will there be a waiting period for the purchase of such a weapon? Will it have to be secured in some type of weapons storage, so that it will be safe from kids living in the home or kids who might be visiting the home. Will it have to be registered with your local law enforcement ? Will you have to have a carry permit if you take in anywhere with you. These questions are almost as stupid as the person who is pushing such a law.

Buying the water gun will be easy. His new Bill I812 bans ownership of water to any one under 21 years of age.

Now if we could just get a Loot For Liberals program going, similar to Cash for Clunkers, we could make some real progress!
