My dad recently purchased a Remington M1911A1. He called me to ask if i have heard of the pistol. I had not so I started my research. The questions I have are: Can you buy replacement parts for them (i.e. a lower slide assembly) and How much is it possibly worth?

Post pics and ser# and we will be able to help you. You can always get parts but I dont know what a lower slide is. Are you meaning the frame? Worth will be acsertained by the originality of the gun which is why pics of all views are important. Could be worth alot or not a whole lot depending on what you actually have. By the way, did I mention pics?? Pictures of all angles are really important if you want to know what it is that you have.

It could also be a new remington R1. which is only worth about what you paid for it.. And the 1911 platform is the single most accessorizable pistol in existence.

I will get my dad to email some photos. He says that it has "military issue" on it. We will see when I get the photos up on here.

Unless I am really, really, I mean really mistaken, R/Rand never stamped "Military Issue" on any of their guns.

Here are the photos that he sent me so far. I will try and get him to send a little bit clearer photos that show a little more of the gun. Also he said that when he broke it down, the barrel had "colt" on it, but as you can see in one of the photos, it's a Remington Rand. Did someone replace the original barrel with this one or is it the original?

After talking to him, it doesn't say "military issue" on it. It has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A U.S. ARMY" on it. Ser # is 923XXX. Does this help any?

Edit: also front sight is not original and maybe the mainspring housing is not correct. Post up some CLEAR pics in order for us to give you good advice.

My old eyes cant see the second pic. On your barrel there should be something stamped near the barrel lug. You need to take the gun apart to see this. If you dont know how then no biggy. I am just curious.
