Smile DOES ANYONE OWN A SIG P226???

If so could you "please" tell me how you like it???? Accuracy, easy to take apart and put back togethor??? etc etc. Iam seriously looking at the Sig Sauer P-226 Platnum Elite in 9mm. It looks awesome, but I would love to hear from anyone that owns one and if there are any drawbacks. I would carry it concealed. THANK YOU.

I have a 226 DAK that I installed XS Express Tritium Sights on. It is temporary being owned by a buddies wife right now to learn how to shoot and get her CCW with. It is the first semi auto that I recommend to any new shooter wanting a semi auto. Sigs are the most reliable semi autos I have ever used. Years ago I used to shoot combat compition with a 9mm 226R and even minor rating they give them I did very good against the major class guns. I have a P-6 German trade in that is just awesome and very accurate for a gun it's size. If someone has not messed with it I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Good gun, very accurate. I had one. The key word is had, it was the older version with the mud rails which cracked and split from the frame. Sig told me it was beyond its service life and did nothing for me. (sig has a ego to fill now) Field stripping is easy. overall teardown can be confusing.

Have had one for years. Love it. Accuracy is not a problem,
neither is field stripping for cleaning. Never had any
problem, after thousands of rounds.

There is only one handgun that I can not sell or trade off.
This is the one. (the wife said so) She loves it too, and is
deadly accurate with it.

One of my favorites. I have a P226 TAC OPS with both .40SW and .357SIG barrels. Only gun I like better is my P229. Next one will be the 220 Elite.

I also have a P226R with .357 sig barrel, and a .40 barrel (which I ordered - it works fine and is made by sig... just didn't come with the gun). It came with tritium night sights, which work great. I actually had to clear my house the other night after some noises and the rear floods coming on (and staying on). The night sights were awesome, and at 2am the comfortable, familiar grip was very confidence-inspiring.

I have large hands (I'm 6'6") and the gun fits me perfectly. It was already the most comfortably shooting weapon I own, and now it has Hogue rubber grips on it. Not the slip-on, but factory replacement grips... it's like shooting a cloud that goes bang

field stripping is very easy. My Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm is the only gun I own that's easier than the P226R, and it's only slightly so. I generally take my time cleaning, but I'd say it's one of the quicker guns to clean, based on what I own.

The Sig P226R is an awesome pistol. My only gripe is that .357sig is a hard caliber to find good deals on. Hell, it's a hard caliber to find at all. I shoot .357 when I can find it, but usually the .40 works well for cheap range practice. It stay loaded with .357 Speer Gold Dots right next to the bed.

No P226, but I have a P228 and it is my favorite handgun. Shoots great, very smooth. Reliable and rugged, easy to strip and clean. I don't think you will go wrong with a Sig.

Sandman, that 228 is something to hang on to a real nice gun. Did you know it will accept a 226 magazine.

I have a P226R. It's 1 of 1776 made to commemorate the Tea Party movement. I've had it right at 2 months and have yet to fire it. I can't speak to the accuracy because everytime I think I'm going to shoot it the weather turns bad or something else comes up that prevents me from getting to the range. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a sign that I shouldn't shoot it.

Here's some pics. You may have already seen it in another thread.

I don't have one currently, but will again soon. I love most anything Sig although I'm not big on their new "line". I have currently a P220, P229, P238 (Carrie's), Mosquito. Previously had P226, P6 and Sig556. My hands prefer the Sig over a 1911, so even though I love the look of a 1911, I just can't handle one as well as my P220. I shoot a 1911 about 50% of the time at the range and still can't get comfortable enough with them.

My only exception to "Buy American"

Blue aluminum grips are from Hogue.

Awesome gun in every way.
Accurate
Easy to clean
Easy on the recoil.

I have a newer version in 9 mm. I like it almost as much as my 1911's!! Everything about them is easy. Sig's are great guns. I also bought a couple of there P238's. I have had no trouble with any of them and they will out shoot me!! ( but then that's not hard to do!)

Yep. It came with one magazine, and I couldn't find another P228 mag, so for a second magazine I got the P226 version.

The Navy Seals use the P226. That right there says a lot to me. Either the P226 or P229 may be in my future. I’ve shot a P229 in .40, and really liked it. I can’t imagine the P226 being any less of a gun. I do have a Sig P220. Just got it yesterday, and weather is going to force me to wait a few days to shoot it. I have shot one before. Shot it side by side next to a Glock 21, and liked the Sig better. Sigs are expensive, but they are very nice guns. Field stripping Sigs is easy.

GOD, you guys are great. I really appreciate all the posts and info that you have given me. I now have on order a Sig Sauer P-226 Platnum Elite and am very excited to pick it up when it arrives. I love the way this pistol looks. It will have off-white grips, short reset trigger. Thank You again everyone.

Congratulations on your upcoming new gun; I'm certain you'll love it.

Have you figured out anything for your CCW search? Are you just going to continue carrying your CZ Shadow and this new SIG P226 for a while?

Hi JOSH; Yes, Iam going to carry the Sig for my CCW. I only have "one life" and I want the absolute best protection that I can get my hands on to carry with me at all times. Thank you for asking. Charlie9

I was issued my first Sig 226 in 1989 when I started on the PD. When they switched to the sig 226 in .357sig I bought it and have kept it close all these years. Hopefully junior will enjoy it when he grows up, or maybe I'll sell it (not)
