'dope' is shooter slang for calculating the effects of gravity and wind.

Gravity is easy, its the same no matter what, wind is trickier and is always different.

Zeroing your .22 rifle at 50 yds provides you with a default setting which all your other settings will stem from. Its a good idea to keep a shooting log book for that rifle and scope and everytime you make an adjustment make a note. get into the habit of jotting down the conditions at the range each session followed by any and all adjustments and their reports on paper, this way you wont end up shooting at a 50 yd chicken when your scope is set for 100 yd rams.

Once you figure out what your rifle does with the ammo it likes at the distances you wanna shoot it at, its all a simple matter of referencing the log book and adjusting the scope and touching the shot off.

Nice shooting Beth, and looks like you had a great day to do it, other than the wind.
With .22 shooting, shooting on a windy day can effect your point of impact a lot.
Nice shooting, and practise does make it better all the time.

It will make you comfortable on windy days, as long as it does not distract you, as you know, it will constantly be changing. Keep the sock out of your view when you are looking at the target thru the scope.[you may tend to over-compensate]
As for your shooting.......EXCELLENT !!
If you want to go play...take all your toys, keep targets close, shoot the hell out of them.
If you want to refine your style AND get super familiar with your aim, don't keep switching between guns. Time AND a buttload of the guns' favorite ammo will hone you in on the targets' center. Some ammo is dirtier than another, so find the ammo you like, and keep an eye on how dirty your gun is getting. As you know from TFF, prepare your gun WELL first. Clean it good, lube it with SBGO then wipe it down really well, then go shoot the crap out of it, keeping a close eye on how many rounds it takes to get the 'mileage' of rounds shot before you need another good cleaning. All guns are so different from one another. Trust me, and others here, a good prepping with SBGO is almost like magic. [plus it fights terrorism...haha]
Shoot the fifty yards and perfect it (or 44yds if you're set up that way) then when you start adjusting to different distances, you will understand HOW to compensate, almost sub-conscientiously.
Right now, with what you just shot, you are kickin' ass ! I always start people out with a fixed power scope so they don't have to adjust mentally to the scope adjustments. You are rollin' out of the chute full blown high speed, and rammin' it home.
Bottom line, keep on keepin' on. It will become 'natural'.

It is quite simple. Once you have done it once or twice you will be able to do it blindfolded.

Dont overthink it. and dont let it scare you, worst case scenario is you wont be able to get it back together... Thats our que to help you out...

in the manual it says soak parts in solvent?

thats manufacterers preference. I soak mine in remoil, it will break down the soot and itll wipe away easily.

the rifle he is taking apart beth is EXACTLY the same rifle you have, just in a plastic stock. so follow his instruction to the letter and you will be a pro in no time flat...
