I have just started loading 45acp and am using 185gr SWC. As they are different length than hardball how do I tell if they are seated at the correct depth?

I use the 200gr SWC and set the OAL at 1.165. Basically the same. They feed very reliably.

You use your calipers to measure the over all length of the cartridge. This deminsion (OAL) is avalable in your reloading manual and is bullet specific.

Also, when loaded .45 SWC bullets should have about 1/16" of the shoulder showing outside the case.
